Urbanco has opened 100 slots for its 2023 apprenticeship programme.
Urbanco conducts the apprenticeship programme every year as a key part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative to develop skilled workers and establish socio-economic equity in Hulhumale’. The primary focus of the programme is on developing the skills of the chosen discipline, gaining self-confidence, learning work ethics and building the apprentice's competence to become a professional.
In this year’s programme, Urbanco will be training apprentices in the fields of gardening, refrigeration and air conditioning mechanic, inventory management, computer hardware and networking, housekeeping, laundry operations, front office services, heavy vehicle operations, construction site supervision, health and safety in construction, painting and decorations, and welding techniques.
The programme combines on-the-job training with related and supplemental instruction given by the selected training institute. Participants of the six-month programme will receive monthly compensation of USD389 and a level 3 accreditation approved by the Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA) upon completion of the programme. The top graduates will receive the opportunity to work at Urbanco.
Interested individuals are required to be Maldivian nationals between 16-35 years and should have completed Grade 10 or a Maldives Qualifications Authority (MQA) level 2 qualification. They should also be unemployed or in part-time employment with working hours that are no more than 20 hours per week. The deadline for application submission is at 1400hrs on May 17.
