Urbanco has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop Thoddoo, Alifu Alifu Atoll, as a smart island.
The agreement was signed by the Managing Director of Urbanco Ahmed Athif and by the President of Thoddoo Island Council Ahmed Karam. Urbanco plans to establish an open-access network and offer urban design consultancy for the harbour area, ferry terminal, cargo warehouse, and public and tourist beaches on the island.
The project is part of the Go Beyond Hulhumale' initiative of Urbanco to provide smart solutions for islands in the Maldives. Urbanco stated that the purpose of the introduction of smart solutions in Thoddoo is to prove that technology can introduce various smart services in small islands and benefit the residents.
