The recently appointed Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the Maldives, Yahya Hassan Alqahtani, paid a courtesy call on the Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef at the President’s Office on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the Vice President and the Ambassador discussed the strength of the longstanding brotherly relations between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia.
Concluding the call, the Vice President conveyed his heartfelt appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s enduring partnership and generous support, expressing confidence that the ties between the two nations will continue to thrive in the years ahead.
Ambassador Yahya Hassan Alhqahtani had presented his Letter of Credence to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on 6 July.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were established on 17 March 1981.
Saudi Arabia over the years has continued to be a committed partner in the infrastructure development of the Maldives.
