President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Mohamed Azad to the newly established position of Accountant General. Azad is the Financial Controller at the Ministry of Finance.
President Solih established the position of accountant general under the powers granted to him by the new amendments to the Public Finance Act. The finance ministry stated that the position of accountant general was established following the abolition of the position of financial controller.
The accountant general is tasked with formulating and maintaining documents related to the finances and statistics of the state.
