President expresses hope for ease of travel for Maldivians to Sudan

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has expressed hope for ease of travel for Maldivians to Sudan. He made the statement during a meeting held after the Ambassador of Sudan to the Maldives Abdallah Omer Bashir Elhusain presented his Letter of Credence.

At the meeting held at the President's Office, President Solih congratulated Ambassador Elhusain on his new appointment and discussed various avenues of bilateral cooperation. During the meeting, President Solih and Ambassador Elhusain discussed ways to enhance trade and investments and explored avenues of cooperation on fisheries, agriculture, tourism, and climate change.

During the discussions, President Solih stated that the Maldives grants on-arrival visas, irrespective of country, and expressed hope for ease of travel for Maldivians to Sudan, in order to boost people-to-people interactions They discussed cooperating closely in the international arena on issues of global importance.

In conclusion, President Solih and Ambassador Elhusain reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries in areas of mutual interest and working alongside each other on the multilateral front.

The Maldives and Sudan established diplomatic relations on June 10, 1981.
