Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has decided to lease a land plot in Hulhumale’ to a metal scrap sorting business.
HDC stated that metal scrap sorting businesses have increased due to the numerous development projects in Hulhumale’. HDC stated that these businesses have been unlawfully using the surrounding pavements and roads, which is why the company decided to allow a metal scrap sorting business to lease land away from residential areas.
HDC stated that bidders should have the relevant business licenses and that businesses that have due payments to HDC will not receive the land plot. It further stated that leasing the land plot to a metal scrap sorting business will reduce cases of theft of metal and cables. It also warned that businesses that deal in metal scrap in residential areas will be penalised.
