Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has revealed that British Airways will begin scheduled flights to the Maldives next year.
British Airways has always operated seasonal flights to the Maldives, but it would be the first time the airline will be operating scheduled flights. It is currently operating flights to the Maldives during the country’s high season for tourism.
General Manager at MACL Hassan Areef said British Airways will commence operating flights to the Maldives throughout the year beginning in 2023, meaning that tourists will be continuously visiting from the UK. He added that eight airlines that had halted flights to the Maldives due to the COVID-19 pandemic have resumed operations this year.
The airlines that resumed flights to the Maldives include Air France, Austrian Airways, Neos, Eurowings, Condor, Lot Polish Airlines, and ITA Airways. Meanwhile, airlines that began flight operations to the Maldives for the first time include Wizz Air and Kuwait Airways.
