Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has conducted a forum called Shariah Scholars Dialogue held to discuss the challenges facing the Islamic finance sector in the Maldives and the solutions to these challenges.
Speaking at the forum, Governor Ali Hashim said that the policies of the MMA will be shaped to enable Islamic finance institutions to compete with others. He also said he hoped that positive changes would be brought about with the ideas and discussions received at the forum.
The forum was attended by Islamic finance professionals who asked questions to the Shariah Council of MMA and discussed issues related to the sector. The forum was attended by all Islamic financial institutions operating in the country. The forum also discussed further ways in which stakeholders in the field can work together to promote Islamic finance.
