State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Takei Shunsuke has concluded his official visit to the Maldives.
During his visit, State Minister Takei paid courtesy calls on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid, Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Technology Aminath Shauna, and the Minister of Defence Mariya Ahmed Didi. He also signed an Exchange of Notes between the two countries relating to a project on waste management and attended the ceremony to unveil the Seawall Tetrapod Monument.
Furthermore, discussions were held between the two sides on an extensive number of issues of common interest, signifying the close nature of the bilateral relationship between the Maldives and Japan.
The visit took place during the 55th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the Maldives and Japan. The two countries established diplomatic relations on November 14, 1967.
