Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dr. Bisera Turković has paid a courtesy call on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, making it the first visit to the Maldives by a high-level diplomat from the country.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister Turković conveyed to him well wishes and shed light on the fact that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between the two countries. They discussed various matters of mutual interest, including enhancing cooperation in tourism, higher education, and youth development and strengthening multilateral cooperation in the international arena. They further expressed their mutual commitment to continue working together for the common good of both countries.
Furthermore, Minister Turković also met Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid during her visit. During the meeting, Minister Shahid welcomed Minister Turković to the Maldives and reviewed the existing bilateral relations between the two countries. They explored avenues to enhance cooperation between the two countries, especially in the areas of trade, education, and tourism. They also reiterated their commitment to intensify the engagement between the two countries in the multilateral spectrum.
Minister Turković’s visit to the Maldives marks the highest-level visit from Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Maldives since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries on January 27, 1997.
