Kuwait Airways resumes flights to the Maldives

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has revealed that Kuwait Airways will be resuming flights to Velana International Airport (VIA) after suspending travel due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kuwait Airways will operate two A320 aircraft a week from Kuwait International Airport to VIA, according to MACL. The national airline of Kuwait has launched flights to the Maldives during the winter season, which is popular among tourists.

Ministry of Tourism said that the number of tourists visiting the country from Middle Eastern countries has increased significantly. As such, 64,714 tourists visited the Maldives from the region so far. A total of 3,164 tourists visited the Maldives from Kuwait in 2021 compared to the 6,309 tourist visits from Kuwait as of September. which is an increase of 99.4%. The ministry aims to attract 1.6 million tourists in 2022 and so far, one million tourists have visited the country.
