Safe drinking water system established in Bodufolhudhoo School

Bank of Maldives (BML) has supported establishing a reverse osmosis machine to provide safe drinking water for students and staff in Bodufolhudhoo School, Alifu Alifu Atoll.

The proposal for the project was submitted by Revolutionary Bodufolhudhoo Generation. Commenting on the project, Musthafa Ahmed stated the project will benefit 186 students, teachers, staff, and those visiting the school with easy access to safe drinking water. He expressed hope the project will change the mindset of people to support a more sustainable environment.

As part of the project, the Revolutionary Bodufolhudhoo Generation also donated reusable bottles for all students and staff, pledging to reduce single-use plastic and adopt environmentally friendly measures. The non-governmental organisation (NGO) will also do routine checks and maintenance on the machine, filters, and water dispensers to ensure the project is successful and sustainable.

The aim of the project is to provide safe drinking water for students and staff of the school and to eliminate single-use plastic bottles. A commercial reverse osmosis machine and a water dispenser were placed within the school for students and staff to have easy access to water.

The BML Community Fund is a programme to empower individuals and NGOs to contribute to their communities through sustainable projects.
