Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam has stated that the pace of national development has never been as fast as it currently is in the Maldives. He made the remarks while speaking at the ceremony to hand over operations of the sewerage system and powerhouse in Ungoofaaru, Raa Atoll, to Fenaka Corporation Limited.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Aslam said that development projects are ongoing in the atolls and that essential services such as clean water supply and sewerage services will be established in all islands by the end of the current presidential term. He noted that water supply and sewerage systems had been established in only 50 islands when the administration took office in 2018.
Furthermore, Minister Aslam said that the administration is developing harbours, water supply and sewerage systems, health, and education centres in Ungoofaaru, Dhuvaafaru, and Inguraidhoo. He added that development is also ongoing in sectors that are relevant to the youth.
Additionally, Minister Aslam said that the administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has a vision for the development of the Maldives and that it includes connecting all regions with ferry networks in order to benefit citizens in all parts of the country.
