Maldives and the US begin joint military exercise on counterterrorism

The Maldives and the United States (US) have commenced a joint military exercise on counterterrorism.

The exercise, titled Tempest Wind 2022, is set to be held from August 7-18 at the Central Area and Male’ Area of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF). This is the 11th round of the exercise series, and fourth to be held in the Maldives.

The exercise aims to identify the current capacities of the Maldives and the US in coordinating emergency counterterrorism operations, and areas that need to be improved. The exercise is designed to strengthen the military resilience of countries in fighting terrorism.
