HDC opens Hiyaa management office

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has begun services at its first management office for the Hiyaa housing project.

The management office was opened on the ground floor of Tower-11 to assist residents seeking administrative services and information related to the Hiyaa housing project. The office is open from 0900hrs to 1400hrs on official working days. The office will also accept complaints and assist residents facing issues related to the housing project.

HDC also stated that residents will be able to pay rent at the office using cash cards. The government has allocated USD552 as rent for Hiya housing units, with an additional USD65 as a maintenance fee.

Hiya is the largest public housing project in Hulhumale' Phase II, which consists of 6,720 housing units to accommodate over 30,000 people. Currently, around 5,000 housing units are occupied as a large number of residents had begun moving to the Hiya flats at the start of the year.

HDC has been working to establish essential services in the Hiyaa flats area, including waste management services. Additionally, seven shops, two supermarkets, two clinics, a pharmacy, and a bakery have also been opened. Furthermore, three cafes, a salon, a mosque, and two temporary mosques have been built in the area, and a police station was also opened. HDC has also installed 768 cameras in four towers of the Hiyaa housing project and plans to install a total of 3,072 cameras in all the towers.
