Two tourist facilities in the Maldives included in world’s top 100 hotels list

Two tourist facilities operating in the Maldives have been included in the list of 100 best hotels in the world.

The list was compiled by a top global media brand, Travel + Leisure magazine, through votes submitted by its readers. Travel + Leisure stated this year's top 100 winners reflect the resurgence of global jet-setting, especially as European countries reopened their borders to American travelers.

Travel + Leisure stated that, every year for its World's Best Awards survey, it asks readers to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe, to share their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Hotels including liveaboards were rated on their facilities, location, service, food, and overall value. Properties were classified as city or resort based on their locations and amenities.

As such, Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi placed third in the list. Travel + Leisure stated that the hotel is a 45-minute yacht sail away from Velana International Airport (VIA) and that it was chosen as its 119 villas come with everything a traveler could want out of a Maldivian vacation including ocean views, private plunge pools, and dedicated butlers, who offer excellent personalised service.

Additionally, One&Only Reethi Rah resort was tied in fifth place with Royal Mansour Marrakech in Morocco. Travel + Leisure stated that Reethi Rah consists of villas with catamaran nets over the ocean and some with infinity pools, and beach villas surrounded by tropical foliage and white sand.

Travel + Leisure stated that this year’s top 100 rankings saw a big shift compared to last year, in which India was the clear country winner. The magazine stated that the country best represented in 2022 was the US, with 19 properties.
