All seaplane operations of VIA to be transferred to the new terminal next week

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has revealed all seaplane operations of Velana International Airport (VIA) will be transferred to the newly developed seaplane terminal next week.

MACL stated the final trials prior to commencing operations at the new seaplane terminal are underway, noting 14 trials have now been completed. MACL revealed the final trials will be over within three days, and all seaplane operations can be transferred to the new terminal within the next week. MACL stated the trials have been very successful, adding the new terminal is ready for operations.

The new seaplane terminal is part of the USD 77 million investment to upgrade the services of VIA. Around 3.5 hectares of land were reclaimed in Hulhule' for the development of the new seaplane terminal. The new terminal is equipped with VIP lounges, lobbies, baggage handling facilities, retail shops, and food and beverage services.
