President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced the decision to commence a land reclamation project in Funadhoo, Shaviyani Atoll, next year.
Speaking at the golden jubilee event of Funadhoo School, President Solih said the land reclamation project will be allocated in next year’s state budget to resolve the housing situation in Funadhoo. The president also spoke about other projects planned for the island and said that the administration plans to begin coastal protection work on the island soon, as it is an issue that needs an urgent solution.
Additionally, President Solih said a project to develop 15 classrooms in Funadhoo School is underway and that it is expected to be completed by December. He also said funds will be earmarked in the budget next year to establish an additional administrative building with a staff-room for the school staff.
Furthermore, President Solih said the administration aims to develop and expand the health sector to provide easier access to healthcare services and treatment for atoll residents. In this regard, he said that work will soon begin for the construction of an extension building for the hospital in Funadhoo.
