Aeroflot resumes operations to Maldives

Aeroflot, the flag carrier and largest airline in Russia, has resumed operations in the Maldives.

Aeroflot suspended flights between the Maldives and Russia following the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) said that flights between the Maldives and Russia will be operated every day of the week.

A total of 297 passengers flew from the resumption flight operated to the Maldives. The airline revealed Airbus A330 will be used for the operation of flights between Moscow and Male'.

After the COVID-19 pandemic, Aeroflot resumed operations in the Maldives on September 11, 2020. Initially, only two flights were operated per week by Aeroflot. However, it was soon increased to seven flights.

A total of 60,533 tourists arrived in the Maldives until the suspension of flights and 222,422 tourists arrived in the Maldives in 2021. The commencement of Aeroflot is expected to increase the arrivals from Russia.
