Ministry of Health has announced the designs submitted for three new hospitals are currently being reviewed.
The health ministry stated the designs prepared for the proposed hospitals of Dhihdhoo in Haa Alifu Atoll, Eydhafushi in Baa Atoll and Kudahuvadhoo in Dhaalu Atoll are being reviewed as the hospitals have been designed in a way construction, operation and maintenance of these hospitals would bear large costs to the state. The ministry added the designs also need some changes in order to allow the expansion of services as envisioned by the government.
The government is undertaking several projects across the atolls to expand and strengthen healthcare services. In addition to hospital development projects, the government is also expanding the services of health centres in several islands.
