Over 1.3 million passengers served at VIA during Q1, 2022

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has revealed over 1.3 million passengers have been served at Velana International Airport (VIA) during the first quarter of 2022.

As per the statistics of MACL, 1.1 million passengers were served at the international terminal and a further 284,000 passengers were served at the domestic terminal of VIA during the first quarter of the year. MACL revealed the total of 1.3 million passengers served during the quarter represents a 76% increase compared to the 774,000 passengers served during the same period last year.

Furthermore, MACL revealed VIA had recorded 15,680 air traffic movements during the first quarter of the year, up by 43% from last year’s figures. This includes 8,246 international air traffic movements and 7,614 domestic air traffic movements.

VIA is the main international gateway of the Maldives. Over 25 airlines are currently operating international flights to VIA.
