Japan donates mini-bus to Children's Shelter

The Government of Japan has handed over a Minibus to the Childrens' Shelter, Fiyavathi, in Hulhumale'.

Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives Takeuchi Midori handed over a minibus valued at USD48,500 to Fiyavathi under the Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Project (GGP). The minibus is a brand new Japanese-made Toyota HiAce Commuter with a capacity of a maximum of 14 seats.

The minibus was donated in line with the Grant Contract signed between former Ambassador of Japan Keiko Yanai, and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Fiyavathi Zeena Gasim on October 24, 2019. The main objective of the donation is to ensure that children in Fiyavathi have access to quality education and health facilities in a much safer and more comfortable condition, said the Japanese Embassy in the Maldives.

The GGP is part of the Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA) implemented by the Embassy of Japan in the Maldives in order to empower people at the grassroots level. Since 1996, the GGP has been implemented in broad areas such as education, environment, health, transportation, and energy in order to contribute to the sustainable development of the Maldives.
