Contracts Awarded for Health Centre Upgrades in Six Islands

Three companies have been awarded contracts to carry out upgrade works on health centres in six islands across various atolls. The contracts were awarded for health centre upgrades in Vashafaru, Haa Alifu Atoll; Thuraakunu, Haa Alifu Atoll; Lhaimagu, Shaviyani Atoll; Magoodhoo, Noonu Atoll; Biledhdhoo, Faafu Atoll and Dharan’boodhoo, Faafu Atoll.

The health centre upgrades for Thuraakunu and Vashafaru were awarded to Perfect Malafehi Maldives Private Limited. The agreement was signed on behalf of the company by its Marketing Director, Mohamed Imad. The upgrades for Vashafaru include the establishment of a patient ward, private room, laboratory, nurses station, procedure room, garage and storeroom. The value of the project is USD 311,284 and must be completed within 210 days.

Meanwhile, the Thuraakunu Health Centre upgrades include the expansion of office, meeting hall, public health office, store and laundry areas. The project was awarded for USD 220,492, to be completed within 180 days.

Lhaimagu Health Centre upgrades were awarded to Econ Maldives Private Limited. The agreement was signed on behalf of the company by its Managing Director, Hussain Anwar. The project’s scope includes the establishment of a ward, private room, laboratory, nurses station, procedure room, garage and storeroom. The project was awarded for USD 311,284 to be completed within 180 days.

Health centre upgrades in Magoodhoo, Biledhdhoo and Dharanboodhoo were handed over to Samaal Construction Private Limited. The agreements were signed on behalf of the company by its Legal Counsel, Mohamed Zayan Abdulla. The Magoodhoo project includes the establishment of a ward, laboratory, nurses station, procedure room, laundry and storeroom. The value of the project is USD 311,284, to be completed within 180 days.

The Biledhdhoo project includes the establishment of a ward, laboratory, nurses station, labour room and storeroom, to be completed within 180 days. The project was awarded for USD 278,858. The Dharanboodhoo upgrades include the establishment of a ward, private room, laboratory, nurses station, procedure room, garage and storeroom for USD 311,284, to be completed within 210 days.

The agreements were signed on behalf of the Ministry of Health by its Deputy Minister Ismail Zahir. The ceremony was also attended by Health Minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim.

The government is upgrading the health centres in the atolls and launching new services at island and atoll level to reduce the dependence on health services available in the capital.
