Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has recorded an income of USD91 million in February.
The income of USD91 million recorded in February was a 40.1% increase compared to the income recorded during the same period last year, as per the statistics published by MIRA. It is also 17.6% higher than the projected income for February.
The largest percentage of the income generated in February was contributed by Goods and Services Tax (GST). As such, MIRA received USD62.9 million through GST in February. The authority also received USD8.9 million as Income Tax, USD5.9 million as Green Tax, USD3.4 million as Airport Service Charge, USD2.9 million as Airport Development Fee, and USD7 million as other taxes and fees.
MIRA attributed the increased income in February to the increased tourism activity. As such, MIRA revealed the tourist arrivals in January 2022 had increased by 43.1% compared to January 2021.
