President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has sent a message of condolences to Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif following a fire at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) that claimed the lives of newborn infants.
President Muizzu said he was deeply saddened to learn of the tragedy and expressed sympathy to the families who lost their children.
He said the government and people of the Maldives were keeping the bereaved families in their thoughts and praying for them to find strength and solace during the period of grief.
On behalf of the Maldives, President Muizzu also conveyed condolences to Prime Minister Sharif, the Pakistani government and the people of Pakistan.
He expressed hope that the ongoing investigation into the incident would help identify the cause of the fire and lead to stronger measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
