State Trading Organisation (STO) has established a laboratory to test the quality of fuel imported to the Maldives.
The fuel testing laboratory has been established at the STO Trade Center in Male’. The facility was inaugurated by STO Chairman Hamid Nasheed and Board Member Aminath Rushma.
STO revealed the fuel testing laboratory will be operated by Geo-Chem Middle East, a prominent company in product testing. STO said the laboratory will facilitate immediate testing of imported fuel, and save time spent on testing fuel samples from abroad. STO said this would be especially beneficial in re-testing jet fuel shipments brought from abroad.
With the establishment of the laboratory, it will receive ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation. This would make the laboratory an internationally recognised fuel testing laboratory.
