Over 100,000 tourist arrivals recorded so far in February

The Maldives has recorded over 100,000 tourist arrivals so far in February.

The statistics from the Ministry of Tourism show 104,085 tourists visited the Maldives as of February 20, which is a 55% increase compared to the 67,024 arrivals recorded in the same period last year. The statistics also show 131,764 tourists visited the Maldives in January, with a total of 235,849 tourist arrivals recorded so far this year, which is a 48% increase compared to the same period last year.

The highest number of tourists visited from Russia this year with 16% of the total arrivals. Russia had the second-highest number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives at the end of 2021, followed by India. However, India is now the third-largest market with 9% of the total tourist arrivals to the Maldives. The UK has the second-highest number of tourist visits this year with 11% of the total arrivals. Statistics released by the ministry show that a daily average of 5,204 tourists arrive in the Maldives and spend an eight-day holiday on average.

The government and stakeholders of the tourism industry aim to register 1.6 million tourist arrivals this year.
