Ministry of Tourism has revealed the number of tourism beds in operation in the Maldives has risen by 823 so far this year.
The statistics released by the tourism ministry show the number of tourism beds in operation has risen to 53,998. These include 38,822 beds from resorts, 10,928 beds from guesthouses, 2,882 beds brought into operation by liveaboards, 1,360 beds from hotels, and six from homestay tourist establishments.
Moreover, a total of 945 tourist facilities have been brought into operation, including 162 resorts, 626 guesthouses, 146 liveaboards, and 10 hotels. The total tourist bed capacity registered in the Maldives is 59,813. The number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives has also been on the rise along with the increased number of beds brought into operation.
The statistics show 163,686 tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year, which is a 44% increase compared to the same period last year.
