The national telecommunications company, Dhiraagu, has recorded USD41 million in revenue in the fourth quarter of 2021.
The amount is a 5% increase compared to the USD40 million generated as revenue in the third quarter of 2021, according to the financial report published by Dhiraagu. The company had earned a profit of USD13 million in the fourth quarter, which is an 8% increase compared to the USD12 million in profit in the third quarter.
As per the report, the revenue generated from mobile services increased slightly in the fourth quarter. As such, USD22 million was generated from mobile services in the fourth quarter while the figure stood at USD21 million in the third quarter.
Moreover, the revenue from fixed broadband services also grew in the fourth quarter with USD18 million, compared to USD17 million as fixed broadband revenue in the second quarter.
Dhiraagu stated the increase in tourist arrivals to the Maldives and the subsequent increase in revenue generated from roaming services contributed to the increase in revenue. The company is expanding its services across the country and established its high-speed fibre network services in 74 islands last year.
