Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has begun Hunavaru Apprenticeship Programme 2022. MTCC opened 140 slots to train youth in various technical fields in this year's programme.
The state-owned company will be accepting applications for the programme until February 6. The aim of the programme is to develop qualified Maldivians for positions such as crane operators, loaders, excavators, marine mechanics, tug mechanics, welders, and bus drivers.
Speaking to the media, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTCC Adam Azim said participants, especially women and young people, will receive excellent job opportunities at the company upon completion of the programme. He detailed that MTCC will be in need of more employees for future services such as the expansion of its bus services in the Greater Male' Region, adding the company will prioritise female applicants, especially for positions such as bus attendants.
The Hunavaru Apprenticeship Programme is split into the Hunavaru Licensing Programme and the Hunavaru Technical Scholarship Programme. The participants of the programme will receive a monthly allowance of USD 324 for the duration of the three-month programme.
In addition, food and accommodation will be arranged for participants who live on a different island from the island of the allocated work site.
