Adhaalath Party condemns the India Out campaign, calls its politically motivated

Adhaalath Party (AP) has stated the India Out campaign led by former President Abdulla Yameen is manipulating the public and is politically motivated.

In a press release, the government coalition party stated the Maldives needs to have a strong foreign policy in order to maintain peace and security in the Indian Ocean region. AP stated the country's foreign policy should also prioritise the safety and wellbeing of its citizens. The party stated isolationism will only result in the country not being able to fulfill its development goals and provide a better life for citizens. Therefore, AP stated the Maldives should work with neighbouring countries as well as all friendly nations. The party also stated it condemns any political activity that creates fear and distrust for countries that have continually assisted the Maldives.

AP also expressed concern that former President Yameen is leading an irresponsible campaign against India. AP noted that the strategic agreements between the Maldives and India were made during Yameen's administration. The party stated the only purpose of the India Out campaign is to manipulate the public and serve a political purpose, which will result in the Maldives and its citizens being isolated from the international community.

AP also stated it will never allow the government to take any action that undermines the independence and interests of Maldivians.
