Maldivians travel to India for youth exchange programme

Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Community Empowerment has revealed a 14-member Maldivian youth delegation has departed to New Delhi as part of the India-Maldives International Youth Exchange Programme.

The programme is being conducted under an agreement between the youth ministries of both countries.

State Minister Hussain Ismail said the participants of the programme will visit cultural landmarks and meet youths and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) working in India's education and social sector. He said they will also participate in various training programmes and give presentations on Maldivian history and culture during the trip.

The state minister said the youth programmes are an opportunity for students to gain valuable experience in various fields. He said the government has signed agreements to conduct youth exchange programmes with two other countries. He added that the government aims to provide more education and training opportunities for youths.

A youth delegation from India is also scheduled to arrive in the Maldives as part of the eight-day programme.
