Public Service Media (PSM) is participating in the 24th General Conference of the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) and related meetings being held in Kathmandu, Nepal. The meetings began on 24 August and will conclude on the 26th.
During the conference, PSM Managing Director Ahmed Shakeeb shared the Maldives’ experience in organising the 21st Asia Media Summit, held in the Maldives in 2026, and the efforts undertaken to successfully host such a regional media event.
The meetings are providing PSM with opportunities to strengthen ties with regional broadcasters and explore opportunities for collaboration with international partners. They are also facilitating greater participation in discussions on the future of media and broadcasting in the Asia-Pacific region.
The conference includes the third meeting of the Strategic Plan Team, meetings of the AIBD Executive Board and EXBO, a gala dinner and special excursions.
The Maldives is a full member of AIBD, with PSM representing the country in the organisation. PSM also currently serves as Vice-President of the AIBD General Conference. This reflects the Maldives’ growing role in regional broadcasting and media development.
The conference brings together broadcasters and media organisations from across the Asia-Pacific region to discuss key developments, challenges and opportunities facing the broadcasting sector.
