President attends the inaugural match of Mahinda Rajapaksa Trophy 2021

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has attended the inaugural session of the Four Nations Football Tournament for the Mahinda Rajapaksa Trophy 2021, which took place in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The president was the ceremony's chief guest for the inaugural session. First Lady Fazna Ahmed, Minister for Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Ahmed Mahloof and Minister of Youth and Sports, Minister of Development, Co-ordination and Monitoring and State Minister of Digital Technology and Enterprise Development of Sri Lanka, Namal Rajapaksa also attended the inaugural session.

The Mahinda Rajapaksa Trophy 2021 is a friendly international association football tournament organised by Football Sri Lanka (FSL) in which Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Seychelles compete.

The Maldives and Sri Lanka played the inaugural match of the tournament, which will continue from November 9-17, 2021. The match was a draw with a score of 4-4.

President Solih is currently on a two-day trip to Sri Lanka, at the invitation of Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
