Ministry of Tourism has revealed 38 international airlines are currently operating flights to the Maldives.
Statistics from the tourism ministry show 32 airlines are operating scheduled flights to the Maldives, and seven airlines are operating charter flights. Emirates brought in the most passengers to the Maldives this year compared to other international scheduled flights, with 185,037 passengers. Meanwhile, Qatar Airways came in second with 165,448 passengers brought to the Maldives this year.
The statistics also show Lot Polish Airlines brought in the most passengers compared to other international chartered flights, with 117,134 passengers. The number of international scheduled and chartered flights to the Maldives is expected to increase for the upcoming high season for tourism.
The government and stakeholders of the Maldives tourism industry are currently working on increasing its efforts to market the Maldives as a top travel destination to increase the number of tourists. Additionally, the government recently announced it has reached this year's target of one million tourist visits and is expecting over 200,000 tourist arrivals by the end of the year.
