Maldives Denounces ‘Greater Israel’ Remarks, Urges Global Action for Palestine

The Maldives has strongly condemned the remarks made by the Prime Minister of the Israeli occupation government regarding the so-called “Vision of Greater Israel,” and has expressed its firm rejection of the settlement and expansionist plans reflected in those statements.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Maldives said that such comments constitute a blatant violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations. The ministry stressed that they undermine the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and to establish an independent and sovereign State on their own land, based on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its Capital.

The statement further noted that the Maldives unequivocally rejects the continuation of such unlawful policies, which will further heighten tensions, threaten regional stability, and undermine the foundations of international legitimacy. The Maldives called on the international community to take decisive and unified action to end these provocations, safeguard the rights of the Palestinian people, and preserve regional and international peace and security.

The Maldives reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and reiterated its commitment to support all efforts aimed at achieving a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace in the region.
