Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment has commenced the seminar for Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in the northern atolls.
The seminar is being held in Ihavandhoo, Haa Alifu Atoll for a duration of four days. The purpose of the seminar is to identify the social development needs of the respective islands, and create awareness on the role of NGOs in national development. The seminar also aims to identify the challenges and obstacles faced in operating the civil societies and organisations, and to promote collaboration and cooperation among the organisations.
The seminar is attended by 30 NGOs from Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu and Shaviyani Atoll. The seminar is carried out over 11 sessions, with participants also allowed to submit proposals in relevant fields.
The youth ministry is conducting the seminar in collaboration with the atoll councils of Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu and Shaviyani Atoll, the island council of Ihavandhoo, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Ooredoo, Bureau of Statistics and Maldives Police Service (MPS). The seminar will be conducted until October 28.
