Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has stated the Maldives is expected to hit the one million mark in tourist arrivals for 2021 before the end of this month.
As per the latest statistics of the tourism ministry, the Maldives had recorded 953,723 tourist arrivals by October 20. The country is currently recording an average of 4,361 tourist arrivals every day, which would ensure the 1 million mark is reached by the end of October.
MMPRC has undertaken several programmes and campaigns throughout the year to boost tourist arrivals, following the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this regard, MMPRC has represented the Maldives, along with industry partners, in more than 25 fairs, 5 road shows and 1 virtual show this year.
MMPRC has also conducted 39 promotional campaigns through travel agencies, tour operators, online and print media, TV and radio channels as well as airlines. Furthermore, the corporation has organised 22 familiarisation trips for media, travel agencies, tour operators and celebrity influencers this year.
MMPRC stated as it prepares to welcome the one millionth tourist of 2021, it hopes to boost these numbers in the coming years and to maintain the status of the Maldives as one of the most popular tourist destinations of the world.
