President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has returned to Male’ City upon concluding his visit to Kandoodhoo, Thaa Atoll.
During the trip, President Solih participated in several activities held to celebrate National Farmers' Day and World Food Day. He officially inaugurated the food security programme and fertigation system and joined the official reception celebrating National Farmers' Day and World Food Day this year. The president also visited and toured a local chili pepper farm and inaugurated the food exhibition in Kandoodhoo.
The food exhibition is an initiative of the Kandoodhoo Island Council in collaboration with the Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources, and Agriculture. The event aims to exhibit, promote and advertise locally produced food items and to display food products created from fresh locally-grown ingredients, in one place. The exhibition took place on October 15 and 16, with stalls from four islands of Thaa Atoll in addition to the two stalls from Kandoodhoo and one stall from AgroNat.
National Farmers' Day was previously observed on August 10. It was the first celebration of the day of this magnitude since President Solih declared in 2020 that National Farmers' Day would be marked on October 15 of each year, to coincide with World Food Day on October 16.
President Solih was joined in his trip by a delegation of cabinet ministers, parliament members, and senior officials from the government and the President's Office.
