CEO of Maldives Pension Administration Office John Grindall has been dismissed, 10 months after his appointment.
PSM News has received information he was dismissed following an investigation over a disciplinary issue. Grindall has over 25 years of experience in the insurance and pension industry and has held executive positions including interim chief Actuary at Malta Financial Services Authority, senior actuary at the Lloyds Banking Group and COO at Compre Group Malta. He is also an expert in Defined Contribution/Defined Benefit funding, demographics and longevity and investment risk modelling for pensions provision. He was appointed as CEO of the Pension Office in December 2020.
Pension Office was established as an independent legal entity under the Maldives Pension Act, which was ratified in 2009. The Pension Act mandates Pension Office to carry out the administration and management of pension schemes, provide retirement pensions and the old-age basic pensions. Pension Office is also tasked with formulating regulations, standards and guidelines to operate schemes established under the Pension Act, and conducting awareness programmes for such schemes.
