Maldives takes part in the Expo 2020 in Dubai, UAE.
Expo 2020 was officially launched on October 1 at the Dubai Exhibition Centre. The expo will be carried out for a period of 6 months.
Ministry of Economic Development had earlier revealed the Maldivian participants will be holding various cultural activities in Expo 2020. The economic ministry stated the expo is an important opportunity to promote the Maldives and showcase the country's natural beauty and the history of sustainable development undergone by its citizens.
The government will be hosting investment forums for different sectors during the expo to provide information on investment and business opportunities in the Maldives. Expo 2020 will also hold a day of honour for the Maldives pavilion on October 25 to exclusively showcase the country.
Expo 2020 is the first world expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia and the first to be hosted by an Arab nation. The expo plans to host 25 million visits, with 70 percent of them coming from beyond the country's borders, which is the largest proportion of international visitors in history.
