Ministry of Economic Development has established a Job Centre in Bodufolhudhoo, Alifu Alifu Atoll.
The economic ministry and Bodufolhudhoo Island Council signed an agreement to establish the Job Centre on the island.
As part of the agreement, services of the business portal and the expatriate system of the economic ministry must be provided on the island in addition to establishing a job centre desk.
The ministry also revealed council members and staff will be given access to the expatriate system following necessary training programmes. The ministry expects the business portal to offer eases for the business operators on the island.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has recently said employees would be unable to hire foreign workers in the future if there are Maldivians listed in the registry of the Job Centres who fulfil the requirements for those positions.
