Minister of Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim Hassan has stated researches are crucial in ensuring the challenges faced during and after pandemics and disasters are sustainably overcome by the authorities. He made the statement at the ceremony held to inaugurate the fourth edition of the Theveli International Conference held by the Maldives National University (MNU).
The conference held online was launched by Minister Ibrahim Hassan. Speaking at the ceremony, the minister said although the Maldives has started its recovery process from the economic impacts, it is important that research-based solutions are utilised to maintain the economic recovery from the pandemic.
The conference was held from August 23-24 under the theme Research Towards Pandemic Response, Recovery and Resilience. During the conference, scholars from other countries submitted research papers relevant to the theme and discussions.
The main aim of the conference is to pave way for the MNU to generate and further enhance educational opportunities and to ensure the higher education in the Maldives is based on research and findings. MNU said the conference attended by 400 participants saw the submission of over 60 research papers.
