Maldives has held discussions with Bulgaria to enhance cooperation in the ICT sector.
The discussions were held at a meeting held by Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid with the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications of Bulgaria, Georgi Todorov. At the discussions held at the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications of Bulgaria, two Ministers discussed the importance of improving information and communication networks and transport networks in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Minister Shahid highlighted the importance of strong and reliable information and communication networks for the implementation of the Government's decentralisation policies. The ministers also noted the increasing number of tourist arrivals from Bulgaria to the Maldives and discussed avenues for further increasing transport links for stronger people-to-people connections between the two countries.
Moreover, Minister Shahid also held a meeting with the Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Economy Kalina Konstantinova. At the meeting held at the Ministry of Economy of Bulgaria, discussions were held on further enhancing economic and trade ties between the two countries, including exporting Maldivian fish products to Bulgaria.
