Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has stated it is currently undertaking 14 marketing activities in 10 different countries to promote the Maldives as a tourist destination.
Speaking at a press conference, Managing Director of MMPRC Thayyib Mohamed said the corporation is undertaking various activities such as outdoor campaigns, digital campaigns, webinars, fairs and familiarisation trips, as part of efforts to boost tourist arrivals in the Maldives. Thayyib said the activities include activities targeting specific markets, as well as activities carried out at a global level. He added MMPRC is collaborating with several international airlines and travel agencies in conducting its promotional activities.
Current activities carried out by MMPRC include social media activities targeting the tourist markets of Russia, China, South Korea and Japan, as well as a familiarization trip targeting the Brazilian market. MMPRC states the corporation will take part in 44 different fairs and a roadshow to be held this year.
Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, MMPRC carried out 412 activities for 22 different markets last year. This includes 314 activities held amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
