Maldives hosts investment webinars for foreign embassies

Ministry of Tourism has begun hosting webinars for embassies to increase foreign investment in the Maldives. As part of the work, the Government of the Maldives has been hosting investment webinars for foreign embassies and has so far held webinars for embassies in Germany, Japan, and the UAE.

Speaking to PSM News, Director of Planning Ali Shinan said the tourism ministry and the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) have been working to improve the tourism sector since the reopening of borders following a closure to curb the spread of COVID-19. Shinan said the purpose of the webinars, which are being hosted with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is to provide information on the tourism recovery for foreign travel agencies and tour operators, as well as the investment opportunities in the country. The government plans to host two more webinars this month for the embassies in Bangladesh and Singapore, he stated.

The tourism ministry has also allocated 16 islands and plots of land to be leased for tourism-related businesses.
