Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has recorded an 82.6% increase in revenue compared to the projected revenue for April.
The latest statistics showed MIRA received USD 91.5 million in April this year which is an increase of 173.8% compared to the amount received in April last year. MIRA attributed the increment in revenue to the increase in collection of major taxes such as Goods and Services Tax (GST), Tourism Goods and Services Tax (TGST), Green Tax, Income Tax, Airport Development Fee, Airport Service Charge and Tourism Land Rent.
A large amount of revenue collected by MIRA in April this year was from GST with 60.1% of the total revenue. Meanwhile, 9.8% of the revenue was from Tourism Land Rent and 6.8 percent of the revenue was received as Green Tax. Moreover, MIRA revealed a significant 20% of the revenue was received as arrears.
