MMPRC launches a digital campaign in South Korea

Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has launched a campaign in South Korea by utilising the country's top digital platforms.

MMPRC stated the marketing campaign will last for seven months, and will showcase Maldives as a top travel destination using Facebook, Instagram, as well as South Korea's top social media platforms KakaoTalk and Naver Band.

Naver Band is a popular social media application that facilitates group communication with over 200 million users in South Korea. MMPRC plans to use the application to provide detailed information on travelling to the Maldives as well as COVID-19 information related to the country. MMPRC stated it will share blog posts and photos of the Maldives using Naver Band for the purpose of increasing the interest of South Koreans during peak season.

MMPRC will also use South Korea's popular messaging application KakaoTalk for quizzes and other campaigns. Furthermore, photos showcasing the beauty and rich history of the Maldives will be targeted to South Korean Facebook and Instagram users.

Statistics of the Ministry of Tourism shows that 5,895 South Koreans visited the Maldives in 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a low number of tourist arrivals last year.
