Ministry of Heath has begins accepting requests for registration and licensing of healthcare service facilities.
The health ministry stated requests for registration and licences should be submitted within 180 days in accordance with Article 49 of the Healthcare Service Act. The ministry stated health services to be registered at the ministry must submit requests before May 31. The ministry added registrations and licenses will be issued within 30 days.
The regulation on operating healthcare service facilities was introduced on February 25 to regulate healthcare facilities in the Maldives. The regulation provides guidelines on registering healthcare facilities and issuing licences. It also provides operational guidelines for healthcare centres to ensure the health and safety of patients.
Healthcare facilities that fail to submit requests for registration and licenses before the deadline will be banned from providing services and will have to pay a fine between USD 3,000 and USD 65,000.
