Maldives reports another 65 cases of COVID-19

Maldives has reported another 65 new cases of COVID-19 on January 22.

As per the latest statistics of Health Protection Agency (HPA), 65 new cases were detected between 1800hrs on January 21 and 1800hrs on January 22. This includes 38 cases from the Greater Male’ Region, 26 cases from operational resorts and one case from inhabited islands in the atolls.

With the latest update in cases, the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the Maldives has risen to 14,830. This includes 1,042 active cases, 13,731 recoveries and 50 deaths. There are currently 69 COVID-19 patients undergoing treatment at hospitals or medical facilities.

COVID-19 cases have been on the rise once again since late December. Daily numbers have been above 50 for the past week, with cases increasing among tourists and resort employees.
